Prof. Dr. Abdul Qayyum is serving Peshawar Medical College, Peshawar in the capacity of Professor & Head of Pharmacology Department.
A KMC graduate of 1962 did his M. Phil and Ph.D (Pharmacology) from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi in 1968 and 1976 respectively.
He started his professional career in PCSIR Peshawar (1964-1982) as Research Officer and promoted to Principal Scientific Officer.
He served Department of Pharmacy, University of Peshawar as Project Director / Chairman, Professor of Pharmacology (1982-2000). He served Kabir Medical College as Professor of Pharmacology for eight years. He was also assigned the additional duty of Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in GIMS, Peshawar.

Prof. Abdul Qayyum is a HEC approved supervisor for Ph.D (Pharmacology). He worked as Co-supervisor for M. Phil / Ph.D students.

He has thirty research papers, fourteen reviews, seven General articles to his credit published in national and international journals.
