Professor Muhammad Shafiq did M. Sc in Biochemistry from Peshawar University in 1973 and did his Doctorate in Biochemistry from BMSI Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi.

His vast experience of more than 30 years is spread over several institutions and started his career as Lecturer Khyber Medical College, Peshawar. He also served in the Department of Biochemistry Saidu Medical College and Women Medical College. He remained Vice Principal (Student Affairs) Saidu Medical College, Swat. He served as Head of Biochemistry Department, Saidu Medical College, Swat. He also remained Vice President of Pakistan Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. In addition to these he also served as Acting Principal Saidu Medical College, Swat for 4 years.

Currently serving as Head of Biochemistry Department, Peshawar Medical College, Peshawar.

Eleven research papers to his credit published in various National Journals.
