2^nd Annual PMC Undergra= duate Medical Research Fair

You are cordially invited= to join us at the 2^nd Annual PMC Undergraduate Medical Research Fair.

PMC is an affiliate of Riphah University, Islamabad. We are engaged in medical education for the last 3 years. Medical research is = an integral part of our curriculum at PMC. Students are exposed to different aspects of medical research through out their five years with us. “Learning by Doing” is the main theme of our research education= and students are required to submit one manuscript per year before their annual exams.

Our Research Fair will fe= ature poster and platform / verbal presentations on various healthcare related to= pics by undergraduate students from various institutions from across the country= .

Following deadlines have = been given for the Research Fair:

Appendix – A

Pre-requisites for participants

You must be enrolled in an institution for gradua= te / professional education recognized by HEC and/or a Government Uni= versity
You must fill up the PMC Department of Undergradu= ate Medical Research – Form A and submit it with your research paper= . No research paper will be accepted without a duly filled Form - A
Your work must be original, duly attested by a supervisor, (see below)
Page-1: An Abstract, typed in Times New Roman, Font size 12, (not more than 300 words)
Page-2: = Aims & Objectives, (1 aim and 2-3 objectives)
Page-3: Introduction, highlighting rationale and background of your work, duly referenced with current research, (no article earlier than year 2000)
Page-4: = Materials & Methods, giving your study design, specifications of assays, tests or equipment used and data analysis method and/or software
Page-5: = Results showing tabulated, graphic and/or chart forms of results
Page-6: = References, (no article earlier than 1990)

Pre-requisites for Supervisors:

You must be currently employed in the HEC and/or = Government University recognized institu= tion from where the research paper is submitted
You must be a PMDC or HEC recognized officer. In = case of medical research, you must hold position of Assistant Professor or above
You will write a covering letter supporting your student’s submitted paper and attest the originality of his/her = work under your supervision
It is highly desirable that you attend the Resear= ch Fair with your student.

Poster Design:

Poster will be mounted on standard white or dark = blue chart paper. No other colors, floral designs, pasting papers or ornamentations are allowed
6 A-4 sheets, printed in Times New Roman, Font si= ze 12 in Black & White as given in Pre-requisites for Participants
If you send us the sheets and your research paper qualifies for final display, we will mount them for you
Any additional illustrations, figures or photogra= phs can be submitted on a second poster labeled with the research title as= a continuation sheet
Top panel will display the Research Title, name of principal investigator, co-investigators and name of the institution
Acknowledgements and name of supervisor will be g= iven in the end

Appendix – B

Poster Design

Verbal presentations

All presentations must be cleared by PMC Departme= nt of Undergraduate Medical Research 1 week in advance
Format of presentation will be as given in Pre-requisites for participants, above
All presentations will be multi-media based, desi= gned in Windows Power point
Maximum time allowed is 7-10 minutes per presenta= tion with 5-10 minutes for question & answer sessions
Maximum number of slides allowed is 15 per presentation
Presenters will answer all questions with input f= rom their supervisors
